Alec Bradley Creates Dark, Spooky Barber Pole
The transition from summer to fall seems to happen overnight after Labor Day weekend, even if the official start of autumn is still weeks away. In these early days of September, our collective focus shifts to the fall—and the cigar industry is no different. Alec Bradley has added a spinoff to its popular St. Patrick’s Day smokes, Black Market Filthy Hooligan and Shamrock, with a limited-edition, one-size barber pole called Alec Bradley Black Market Filthy Ghooligan meant to celebrate the spooky Halloween season.
Alec Bradley’s St. Patrick’s Day releases are well known to cigar smokers, particularly because of its candela wrapper. The Filthy Ghooligan has a darker twist, with Ecuador Habano and United States Broadleaf wrappers. The rest of the blend is made up of Indonesian binder and filler tobacco from Nicaragua’s core growing regions—Jalapa, Estelí, and Condega—along with Dominican Piloto Cubano. The cigars are intended to be medium-bodied, according to Scandinavian Tobacco Group, the owner of the Alec Bradley brand.
The Filthy Ghooligan is made in Honduras and will be available as a one-size toro measuring 6 inches long by 50 ring gauge. Production is limited to only 1,500 boxes, each containing 24 cigars. The cigars will have a suggested retail price of $14.09 each, or $338.16 a box, and they ship to retailers this month.
