The non-Cuban Montecristo is one of the biggest brands made by Altadis U.S.A. Inc. Traditionally a mild smoke, Altadis spiced up the blend with the creation of the golden-brown Montecristo Platinum line. Montecristo Platinum is made with quite the intriguing and complex blend of cigar tobaccos, a four-nation grouping that combines leaves from traditional cigar tobacco countries (the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Mexico) with a more unusual source (Peru). The Montecristo Platinum Churchill Tube is a hearty, meaty smoke with flavors of salty, roasted nuts and wood on the palate. The cigars are made under the watchful eye of José Seijas at Tabacalera de Garcia Ltd., one of the world's largest cigar factories.
