Mild Macanudo Gold Hits Market, Gets New Size For 2021

Fans of mild cigars now have another option to look forward to. The Macanudo Gold Label, a cigar brand that makes a yearly appearance in cigar shops, was released last week by General Cigar Co. and will be shipping to retailers until July 30, or when stocks are depleted. With this year’s allotment comes a new, limited-edition size: the 6 inch by 60 ring gauge Gigantes.
Like the core Connecticut under shade. But cigars from the Gold line are even milder than regular Macanudos, as they’re covered in lighter, lower-priming wrappers that grow closer to the bottom of the tobacco plant. This lower position on the stalk means less sun exposure, a smoother appearance and a light color.
In addition to the low-priming Connecticut-shade wrappers, Macanudo Gold consists of a Mexican binder and filler from Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
Including the limited-edition Gigantes, Macanudo Gold is offered in eight sizes: Hampton Court Tubo measuring 5 1/2 by 42; Shakespeare, 6 1/2 by 45; and Crystal, a 5 1/2 by 50 robusto that comes in glass tube. All cigars are packaged in 25-count boxes.
The cigars have suggested retail prices ranging from $9.99 to $10.79 and are made in the Dominican Republic at the General Cigar Dominicana factory.
