Fuente Adding Two More Sizes to Rare Pink Line

Carlos Fuente Jr. has two new sizes of Arturo Fuente Rare Pinks in the works, a pair of shapely figurados that will boost the line to six cigars. He expects them to ship in October.
“I have two new sizes coming out,” he told Cigar Aficionado. One is short, a 3 3/4 inch-long perfecto with a 54 ring gauge. The other is fairly long, measuring 7 1/4 by 53.
The Rare Pinks are Fuente’s latest creation, a line of perfectos that share some similarities with his landmark Hemingway series of cigars, but differ considerably in their blend and power. Where Hemingways are wrapped in toothy Work of Art, with a size called Happy Ending uniqure to the Rare Pink line.
The smaller cigar of the new sizes, said Fuente, will be called Queen of Hearts.
The cigars are being made slowly, shaped smokes being more difficult to roll than straight-sided cigars, which are known as parejos. Fewer cigarmakers are able to craft such smokes, and in the case of these new shapes, they are all the product of one person. “There’s only one cigarmaker on these new sizes,” Fuente said.
Fuente has called the Rare Pinks, which his daughter Liana. The cigar project was created to benefit breast cancer research, a project dear to Liana, who is part of the family business. She lost two family to the disease, which kills more than 40,000 women a year in America. A portion of Rare Pink sales go to benefit the fight against breast cancer.
The cigars are made at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. in the Dominican Republic.
