Alec & Bradley Kintsugi Begins Shipping This Week
The first 600 boxes of the Kintsugi line from Alec & Bradley are finally making its way to retailers this week.
Originally intended for a release between mid-May to early-June, the Japanese-inspired Kintsugis were delayed due to the PCA trade show.
Kintsugi is a fifteenth-century art form where broken pottery is repaired with gold to highlight the imperfections and the belief that these repairs make the piece even more beautiful. Rubin brothers Alec and Bradley, who blended this cigar, feel Kintsugi also serves as a metaphor for the cigar industry, which they view as currently fragmented.
The cigars are made at the Raices Cubanas factory in Honduras with a Honduran wrapper from the Trojes region, two binders (Honduran and Nicaraguan) and filler from Honduras and Nicaragua as well.
Kintsugi comes in four sizes: Corona Gorda, measuring 5 5/8 inches by 46 ring gauge ($7.25); Robusto, 5 by 50 ($7.95); Toro, 6 by 52 ($8.80); and Gordo, 6 by 60 ($9.85). Shipping in boxes of 24, the boxes and bands will feature artwork reminiscent of broken Japanese pottery repaired with gilded cracks.
